IDENTIFY YOURSELF PLEASE :)

Hi all you voyeurs out there in the "real" world back home!

I can hardly believe that this trip is winding down - it is hard to imagine that time has passed and September has become November when the temperature in the countries that I have visited recently keeps rising! Today it was a balmy 90 F in Dubai. I am hoping that the temperatures in Greece and France will remind me that it really is fall and it is time that I start thinking about getting back to work.

I know many of my close friends and family members have been faithfully checking the blog out. Its extensive, so its okay if you only look at the photos and you don't read every word. I have no way of knowing just how many people have been interested in my travels around the world over the past few weeks, so I am asking all you readers to do me a favor this time.

If you have read any of my posts, I invite you to leave me a comment on this post just so I know that you have stopped by. I don't need you to wax poetic about the exciting quality of my prose - I just want to get a sense of how many people I have been traveling with since late September.

Thanks so much!

Chris, I started reading your blog in preparation for my OAT tour to Morocco in March/April. And I continue reading faithfully. Reading firsthand accounts is my favorite way to get a feel for what cities, countries and nationals are are all about. Thanks.

THANKS TO EVERYONE who is reading and left a comment! It is actually VERY heartwarming to know a few of you folks have been enjoying it. I have so much more to write on Dubai, but I seem to be spending most of my time sitting in a taxi. :-)
More to come soon...

I am getting jealous. The photos and text are amazing. Just spent 2 days in Atlanta with Betty shopping, etc., and had not read your blog in several days, so am excited to see your news. Love, love, Mom

I was just about to go to bed but remembered that I needed to check your blog for new information since today was a new day (and I look for the updates religiously!) Big hug from me and Paul. And Julia's ready to see Aunt Sylly - she has timed the end of her spitting up with the arrival of her Aunt next weekend! Your new clothes are safe!

Hey Chris!

Yes, I've been oggling your blog now and then with great interest. I think you've missed your calling as a photographer and writer for Conde Nast (my favorite have been the pictures from Morocco.)

So you're longing for autumn weather? Not to worry, the weather forecast in Marseille is for cold and even possibly rain during your stay (it doesn't rain very often in Marseille. Aren't you lucky?) I will surely need to turn on the heat during your visit. Looks like there is some storm traveling over Spain that should hit the south of France in about a week. Let's hope the weather gods are looking down upon us and they blow the storm elsewhere!

Meanwhile, I'm in Yemen at the moment, not far from you at all in geographic terms, but a world away in economic ones. Yemen is the poorest country in the Middle East, but it is also perhaps the most beautiful. Sana'a sits at a high altitude - I believe it is the fifth highest capital in the world - making for cool, clear beautiful, dry, sunny weather most of the time.

I leave Sunday night for Paris and have business meetings Monday and Tuesday. I land in Marseille on Wednesday.

Have a great time in Athens with Ian and Amanda (who clearly need a vacation!) Until Sunday night, my Yemeni cellphone number is: +967 73 432 7506 in case you need to get a hold of me. I'll be back on my French cell when I land Monday morning.

Enjoy the heat of Dubai. You'll be longing for it soon enough. Can't wait to see you on Wednesday!!!

Hey, Chris,

I am a little late on this post...I don't read everyday, but every few days that I get to it, I read every single post that I did not since my last read. I really do love your prose--you should consider writing a book on cultural/bellydance travels. That would be awesome!

Hi Sylvana,

Welcome back to NC!

I've been able to read a little here and there - Serena was sick for 2 weeks, and Zane sick for the last week so I haven't been able to "geek out" as much online.

Looking forward to catching up on your adventures.

Would also be very interested to hear how travel with a 4-month baby went. I've held off on international travel because of the kids, but maybe I don't need to? :)

As instructed I am leaving a post! I think what you are doing / have done is amazing. You are so brave! I've checked every now and then to see how you are getting on over there and I do read the posts too. (I think we have met - I am one of Paula's students - I went on her site to see about lessons and saw your blogspot) I hope that you are able to "get your head around" being back here and to cherish what a wonderful opportunity you had. Yay you!

Hi Chris!

I've been keeping up as much as I can, though I've been out of town a little too. I love reading all the stuff you're been doing, and I'm SO jealous of all that you've learned about Islam. And I would kill to see Greece! Thank you so much for sharing everything! Can't wait to see you!
